Maria studied at Sorbonne(part of the University of paris)under some of the famous mathematicians and physicists of the time,including Paul Appel and Gabriel Lippmann.
In 1893,she recieved her physics degree.she earned the highest marks in Lippmann's labortary .she then decided to do pure science research.
At the age of 27,Maria met Pierre Curie at the home of a polish scientist.He was 35,a senior worker in a physics labortary.They had much in common,including a love of nature and the countryside ,little desire for wealth and the comforts of life,and a great passion for physics research.
On july 26,1895,they were married in Sceaux,Pierre's hometown near paris.
